Parents & Carers

Parents
We encourage parents to become involved in all aspects of nursery life, we understand that this can be difficult for working parents and offer a variety of additional out of hours opportunities to meet with staff to discuss their child’s development. Nursery staff are always on hand for parents to talk to to discuss all areas of care and development.

Parents evenings are held regularly, these are an ideal opportunity for parents to go through their child’s development file in detail. These files are kept in the child’s room and may be looked at at any time.

For the younger children we complete a daily record sheet which includes information on milk feeds, meals, sleep times, nappy changes, activities and any general information.

We organise a variety of social events from children’s sports days, BBQ’s, disco’s and family days and nursery trips where parents are encouraged to support and attend if possible.

As we are always striving to improve our service we regularly send out parent questionnaires and assess parent feedback. In addition to this there is also a suggestion box in the nursery hallway.

Carers
Serendipitys carers are friendly and approachable and are chosen not only for their qualifications but for their patience and love of children.

At Serendipitys a vast majority of our nursery staff work fulltime to ensure continuity and stability for both children and parents. Our Nursery staff are of a wide range of ages to create just the right mix of fresh ideas, experience and maturity.

All of our carers regularly attend training courses to ensure that they are continually gaining further knowledge. Regular in house training is also provided.

All Serendipitys staff including supply members have been through a rigorous interview process and all have a CRB (criminal records bureau) check.

At Serendipitys we aim to have 100% qualified staff. Most of our carers hold a relevant childcare qualification ensuring that we easily surpass the minimum requirement set by Ofsted of 50% qualified to 50% non qualified.

We operate a 'key person' system, to provide a link between the child and parents. This key worker will be largely responsible for their day to day care and communicating to parents, information about the child’s development.

Our staff uniform reflects a child friendly atmosphere.
