Choosing a Nursery

Choosing a day nursery is one of the biggest decisions you will make regarding your child’s well being and development for many years, it is vitally important that you are 100% happy with the childcare provision you choose.

With this in mind we encourage all our enquiring parents to take the time to view lots of nurseries.

Points to Consider

  • You shouldn’t ever be made to book an appointment for a visit at a nursery, you should be able to look around at any time to gain a true picture of what it’s like. Ask yourself why couldn’t you just go along and visit at any time
  • Actions speak louder than words, look for lots of interaction with the children
  • First impressions count so look for happy children and staff
  • Ask lots of questions to all the staff not just the person showing you around
  • Take advice from friends, family and neighbours, recommendations and referrals are important
  • Take as many visits as you need, preferably at different times and on different days to see various activities. If you continually see the same activities ask what other activities are on offer and when

To help you narrow down your choices and make an informed decision, we have compiled a checklist for you to use as you visit each child care location. Click Here to download the checklist in PDF format.
